Integrated Planning of ATM Networks Using the Tool LINDA

When communications networks gain increased exibility and the network structure becomes a variable, network planning has to consider more than just capacity dimensioning. Because this planning task is and will be too complex to be solved within a single algorithm, the task has to be partioned. To prevent from suboptimal solutions partioning has to be done carefully and under consideration of the relevant tradeo s. Some methods to do this partioning and the development of the integrated planning process will be discussed. Because these algorithms should be implemented within a single planning tool, there are some special requirements. The ATM network planning tool LINDA will be presented as a solution, together with a planning example.
